The idea is to shoot portraits of people which a) tells a story + b) says something about the individual you shoot + c) are nice looking pics.
That being said, here is the story of this shot :
This man is the father of my wife. He is gifted. Gifted in the sense that he is the king of the army of DIY-Guys from the entire planet. I wanted to shoot him for a very long time but it did not like the idea of being in front of the camera. 2 or 3 weeks before the shoot, Boris and I had a huge laugh as we were talking about how bad we both are when we have to get tools from the box where they “sleep” most of their time… And we talked about all the bad or wrong pieces of equipment we bought for… well, not nothing, but at the end of the day, Honey’s Dady always comes and does the job. And then we agreed that good tools should always be recommended by fathers-in-law!!! 🙂 Sounds like an advertisement, doesn’t it ?
Then I combined the 2 things : the wish of having a nice portrait of my father in law and this story to convinced to pose for me. And here we are ! I love this shot!
It’s a non spectacular setup : 1 strobe aiming up to get indirect light + one light aiming down at a silver reflector to get some fill.
more to come…
